Main objectives: to develop awareness of ongoing and developing problems in the field of medical forensic sciences worldwide and develop the student’s analytical and communicative skills along with self-reliance, responsibility, integrity and self-awareness in decision-making. The programme also intends to encourage and enable students to undertake relevant investigative and practical work at a postgraduate level; to develop the student's ability to think, write and speak effectively and creatively in a forensic context; to offer innovative and flexible tools in the search for qualified work or career progression in the various forensic professions in both the public and private sectors; to provide the student with assistance in developing leadership skills that can be used to solve problems and complex cases through critical analysis and a scientific approach; to train the student for a career in forensic medical sciences and in related sciences by providing a basis for learning and opportunities for continuing education in the field.
Specific objectives: to provide theoretical knowledge grounded on experience in forensic medical sciences; to provide an understanding of the international protocols agreed in individual investigative procedures; to train students to be able to critically evaluate and independently interpret medical and scientific pieces of evidence in the forensic field; to train students on how to present pieces of evidence collected by experts in court and in administrative litigation contexts; to provide students with the ethical and bioethical basis and principles that concern medical forensic science and its application in the most varied contexts.
This professional master is targeted to international graduates and professionals. Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to make the most of the skills acquired in a range of professional areas in legal medicine, in public medicine and health organisation depending on the relevant national regulations. Other professional opportunities focus more specifically on forensic science, such as forensic medicine, chemistry and forensic genetics in their applications both in police bodies and in the legal profession, as well as in public prosecution.
