Learning outcomes

The seminar, that will take around 4 h, will show the state of art regarding the use of coordination compounds based on luminescent lanthanide ions in the biomedical field (optical bioimaging and sensing ).
The PhD student will learn basic concepts regarding the photo-physical properties of these compounds in order to expand his/her knowledge in the field of advanced technologies employed in the biomedical field.

Syllabus

1) Brief introduction on trivalent rare earth ions spectroscopy

2) Design of an efficient luminescent lanthanide complex for bioimaging and sensing application: the role of the CP light

3) Most popular N-based ligands as chelators and antennas for Ln(III)

4) New ligands for Ln(III): fundamental study and sensing application
