The Research Group in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology focuses on studying the effectiveness and safety of drugs in the population, operating both at national and international levels.
The group is involved in the activities of the Italian surveillance system for adverse drug and vaccine reactions of the Italian Medicines Agency, and in the activities of the Regional Pharmacovigilance Center of the Veneto Region and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
The group develops software for collecting, analyzing, and sharing medical-pharmaceutical data using standardized terminologies and structures (e.g., MedDRA, ATC/DDD Index, IDMP, EU E2B R3), and open-source or free tools for academic institutions (e.g., Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, Apache Hop, SeekTable).
A specific area of interest is leveraging advances in AI, particularly for automatic processing of unstructured information (NLP) and predictive data analysis using machine learning (ML).
