Professor Dr. Paul C. Salins is an internationally recognised surgeon, scientist, and innovator, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Narayana Health and Medical Director of the Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre and Cancer Institute, one of the largest medical centres in India. He is also Managing Director and co-founder of the Mazumdar Shaw Medical Foundation, responsible for pioneering work in translational medical research and cancer biology. He is also the Vice Chairman of SKAN Research Trust focussing on Regenerative Medicine, Neurodegenerative states, AI and Microbiome research. In addition, He is the Chairman of the DBT-supported Biomedical Innovation Centre and is Chief of Craniofacial Surgery, renowned for his contributions to skull base access and orthomorphic facial reconstruction. An eclectic researcher, Professor Salins has advanced understanding in tumor microenvironment in Oral cancer, hypoxia, epithelial-mesenchymal transitions, and composite pharmacology. He led research at Organic India exploring traditional medicine for modern drug discovery, including novel therapeutics for fatty liver and antibiotic resistance. In nanomedicine, he directed a state-funded nanotechnology initiative in Karnataka. In recent years, his focus has expanded to artificial intelligence, particularly the interpretation of complex heterogeneous data to uncover hidden categories with applications across medicine, industry, and economics. Professor Salins is a classical musician, philosopher of science, Ethics and scholar of art and architecture. His deep interest lies in the generative structures of creativity; how music, poetry, and ethics cultivate the brain’s capacity for pattern recognition, innovation, and complexity. He believes this integration of science and the humanities is essential to educating minds for the profound challenges of the future.”
